Rumor has it that Microsoft wants to buy Discord for $10 billion. Of course, that’s wrong. Microsoft isn’t interested in buying a chat application. They could easily develop one for a fraction of that price. What they are shopping for is an established user base with an existing vendor lock-in.
The lesson to learn (again) is: think twice about signing up for services, make sure not to grow dependent on them, run like hell when they get sold. Because no way in hell, the new owner won’t try to squeeze your balls to earn back his money.
(Pretty sure, the idea here is to upsell Discord users into the X-Box ecosystem - don't worry, you'll fall for it. Microsoft has been playing this game probably before you were even born.)
