Bad Authentication - But the credentials are correct!

Getting a bad authentication error can have two possible causes:

  1. You have two factor authentication enabled for your account (Raccoon does not support that).
  2. Google thinks that there was something fishy about your login attempt and blocked it.

Either way, you have to log in via web browser. If two factor auth was the problem, disable it. If your login attempt was blocked, navigate to the list of recent login attempts and confirm that it was you.

The most likely reason for Google blocking login attempts is that you recently switched to another ISP and hence are now logging in from a different subnet. The second most likely reason is that you upgraded Raccoon and are now using a different device profile. Either may look to Google as if someone has stolen your account.
