The Indian scam continues
I know you should not answer junk mail, but hey, I was bored…
So, despite better knowledge, I answered that earlier scam mail, expressing interest in the filthy riches, promised. Joel replies:
Ok we will stick to email.
Will pay $3.8 through binance and I'll give you app in 5-6 days
Binance is a crypto currency exchange. So not only does Joel want to burn my Playstore developer account to the ground and pay next to nothing for the privilege, but also, instead of actual money, would like payment to be 3 bucks worth of certified industrial pollution, too?
A 5-6 delivery time sounds like this app’s gonna be custom made for me, though. I wonder what nefarious things it will do. Considering that Joel never mentioned any app promotions, I’m going to guess that it’s going to be some kind of 2nd level malware dropper that’s background installed by a seemingly harmless game.
I mean yeah, Joel is obviously not going to drop mere adware on me (he would need to promote and I could hijack it). He is, however, putting quite some effort into a) finding desperate developers and b) getting something published, he knows will be TOS violation that won’t stay up longer than a few week. The only way I can see this being economically viable is if he’s trying to infect phones with root kits on a large scale.
Well, we’ll know more next week…
