How to bypass age restrictions on YouTube

Please sign in to confirm your age - No thanks.

Blast! It’s another one of those age restricted videos. Sure, I could play along, register an account, submit my any arbitrary date of birth and then be allowed to watch it. Problem just is, that doesn’t proof anything and I don’t feel like signing a contract, subjecting myself to tracking, over a random video.

I would lie about this anyway. So can't we just skip the nonsense?

So, how do we get around this? By understanding that this mainly about doing a legal dance to please youth protection authorities. You can’t watch age restricted videos on the platform itself, but you can embed them on external websites. In that case, age verification is no longer YouTube’s problem.

Fortunately, YouTube wasn’t originally a Google company, so they made video embedding really easy for SEO purposes and can’t take that back anymore without breaking tons of websites. To put it short, all you have to do, in order to bypass age verification, is to rewrite the url, replacing the /watch?v= part with /embed/ , e.g.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

becomes

https://www.youtube.com/embed/dQw4w9WgXcQ

No browser plugins or external websites required!
