Roll back bad updates

Not all updates are beneficial. Sometimes, you wish you'd stayed with the old version.

Sure, installing updates is important to fix security issues. But what if an update opens a security issue? On purpose?

There are quite a few shady companies out their whose business model is to buy up apps that don’t make their developers any money. Once sold, those apps will get updates, but they will be along the lines of:

  • Aggressive advertising that makes the app barely usable.
  • Turning your smartphone into a pocketheater while it’s mining Bitcoin.
  • Serving as a network proxy for user’s that would rather not use their real IP address.

The official Google Play app allows you to reject updates, but not to roll them back. Basically giving you the choice to either stop using an app or accept it doing things that are not in your best interest. With Raccoon, you can simply return to the last known good version.
